I was tired of my DeviantArt ID being something I randomly pulled out of scraps. I made a drawing for my new one.
OMG This has an awesome backstory. METAL GEAR SOLID 4 ENDING SPOILERS IN COMMENTS AHEAD if you actually care anymore.
During the last fight against Ocelot, there's a sequence where, if he grabs you and you don't struggle free, he plants a kiss on your cheek. Now, it's pretty awesome watching one badass old man kissing another badass old man. But I decided that it was one of those things (like ) that is completely meme-worthy but may or may not ever get enough coverage to get to that level, since it's kinda hidden in the game. But certainly I must interfere...
I did this at the girl I babysit's house and therein lies lolz. See, she likes a lot of the stuff I like even though she's eight years old and is really into girly stuff like Webkinz, Disney Channel, etc. And she loves Metal Gear Solid (Err, what little she knows of it from Brawl and Portable Ops, since most of the series is rated M and I don't want to get in trouble. 8D; ), especially Snake. I was drawing this while she was on the computer and her dad saw this and he said "Is that you? Are you kissing that guy? It's an old guy! Don't let your dad see that!" I was laughing so hard, but I showed him the video of Ocelot kissing Snake, explaining that he was posing as Snake's brother. "Brothers don't kiss each other." "IN SNAKE'S CULTURE THEY DO!!! 8Db"
SO AWESOME
If anyone wants to know how I referenced the original scenario image (since I had to get Snake's face similar), I consulted a small thumbnail-sized screenshot from my *LIMITED EDITION MGS4 STRATEGY GUIDE* to get the basic idea of how Snake's head was tilted. Shading, wrinkles, etc were placed by me, as I had to make him look as though he were a little more uncomfortable ('CAUSE I'M KISSING HIM LOL). I did not reference Ocelot for my head position, and the hand position was mostly done off the top of my head.
I BELONG TO ME SO SHOVE OFF And Snake belongs to Kojima!
Ocelot was my favorite character from MGS3, as well! Especially at the end, where he spins the revolvers for like twenty minutes, then tells you to choose a gun, and you both go off firing empty shells until one of you has the special bullet on his necklace... which turns out to be a blank XD I was rofling when he fired the blank bullet me. I would have pulled out a gun and busted a cap into his forehead lol
LOLWUT XDD you got caught drawing this? D: if i got caught by my dad drawing something like this, my face would go red ... D: cuz he always teases me about boyfriends, like if have a friend that's a dude, he'll be all like "is that your boyfriend XD?" and i would be like "NOOOO i dont need a boyfriend D:<" but im actually a big pervert hahaha
Lollll now you know my paranoia of when I draw RazxMarth on the laptop/pc XD. My mum caught me drawing a picture (thats still not finished) and then my sister was there too and she was like "ARE THEY 2 GUYS? MUM SHE'S DRAWING 2 GUYS IN BED..." I glared at her and said no. Mum told my sister to leave me alone and that it was a nice picture XD;. I've been put off finishing that...just cos I'm ultra paranoid about it now. They're not doing anything but..yeah.

Must quote "INSANE job with the pencil. Pure brilliance." because its so true. You did a excellent, excellent job on shading this and I envy that XD -cannot draw traditionally very well- Everything looks so crisp and life-like, amazing!
BUY IT!!! D8 This is just one scene that you don't even have to activate in a playthrough unless you suck at toggling the L analog or something.
I watched that scene with young Ocelot on Youtube a while back, since I don't own MGS3. "THIS RELOADING TIME IS EXHILLIRATING!" I was like lulz silly Ocelot.
I've always been in the middle, between anime and realism. One time I was told by an art teacher that it was not smart to practice both anime and realism because studying one would hinder my comprehension of the other too much. I'm going to guess he was mostly against anime since he himself was a realistic artist. But to his statement, "LOL WHUT". I was worried for a while that my style was going nowhere, but suddenly a few months ago I was so pissed off at myself to the point that I considered quitting drawing, and suddenly I started having really weird revelations about how to put more emphasis and intrigue into my art. I'm... really happy with the growth I've made as an artist, and I think this artwork may be a sort of milestone, demonstrating that... For skill level, not content, of course. The content is a one-hit wonder WTF moment.
And still I must declare that I've NEVER had a problem with shading. Conceptually place the highlights in their appropriate places? Yes, that did plauge me for a while. But shading has always been an integral part of my style and MAY EXPLAIN why I SO THOROUGHLY SUCK at DIGITAL MEDIA.

Your art is so unique for that. You can make all your images black and white, but it has so much emphasis.
